Non-surgical radiofrequency for the face, neck and body
XERF skin tightening is a non-surgical radiofrequency treatment that firms loose skin, early jowls and a softening jawline by heating the deeper layers of the skin and the structures that support it. At Areum Haus in Torrance, XERF is performed by Jessica, BSN, RN, founder and lead nurse, with physician medical oversight. Treatment is a single appointment with no needles and minimal downtime. Standard XERF is priced from $1,800 to $3,000 per area, and the Korean Glass Skin Ritual, which includes full-face XERF, is $2,300 for a two-hour appointment.
Does it hurt, and how long does it take? Most clients describe XERF as a series of warm pulses. Numbing cream is not typically needed. A face appointment takes about 60–90 minutes and a body area about 60–120 minutes, and you can return to your day afterward.

Understand your treatment
XERF is a non-surgical radiofrequency treatment made by Cynosure Lutronic and cleared by the FDA in August 2025. It delivers controlled heat at multiple depths of the skin and the tissue beneath it. Your clinician selects the depth and intensity for each area, so a treatment on the jawline is set differently from one on the abdomen.
Skin laxity has been the hardest concern to treat without surgery. Wrinkles, texture and pigmentation respond to lasers, peels and microneedling. Loose skin, early jowls and a softening jawline have historically needed a lift. XERF is a newer option designed to firm the skin’s deeper structural support without an incision, needles or downtime.

Step by step
XERF is an outpatient treatment with no surgery, so your visit is simple. Here is what happens from consultation to aftercare.
Your visit begins with your goals and health history. A licensed provider completes a Good Faith Exam, assesses the areas you want treated, and explains options, risks and alternatives. You leave with a written plan and quote.
Jessica reviews the plan, confirms the settings chosen for your skin, and takes photographs under consistent conditions. The handpiece is moved across the treatment area, delivering radiofrequency while integrated cooling keeps the surface comfortable.
Controlled heat triggers a repair response. Over the following weeks the skin produces new collagen, new elastin and strengthened connective tissue. Some clients notice early firmness in the days after treatment. The main change develops gradually, with most visible improvement at 60–90 days.
Most clients describe XERF as a series of warm pulses. Numbing cream is not typically needed. Tell your provider how it feels at any point.
Mild redness or warmth may appear immediately afterward and usually resolves within a few hours. There is no bandage and no recovery period. Follow the simple aftercare instructions provided for your skin. A face appointment takes about 60–90 minutes and a body area about 60–120 minutes.

When results become visible
Some clients notice early firmness in the days after treatment. The main improvement develops as new collagen forms, with most visible change at 60–90 days. Results vary with skin quality, treatment area, and your individual response. Think of this as playing the long game with your skin: proactive aging, with time to assess each change.
How many treatments
Many clients reach their goal in about two sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart to allow time for collagen remodeling between visits. Some benefit from additional treatments, depending on the area and the degree of laxity. After an initial series of at least two sessions in an area, established clients can maintain results with one XERF maintenance treatment per month through the XERF Maintenance Membership.

Three facts per treatment, from each manufacturer’s and provider’s published descriptions. Areum Haus offers XERF, SkinPen and Jeuveau. It does not offer Morpheus8, Thermage or Ultherapy.
| Treatment | Energy | Needles | Numbing | Downtime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XERF | Radiofrequency, two frequencies, multiple depths | None | Not typically needed | Minimal; mild redness resolves within hours |
| Morpheus8 | Radiofrequency delivered through microneedles | Yes, to about 4 mm on the face, deeper on the body | Topical numbing for about an hour | One to five days of redness and pinpoint marks |
| Thermage FLX | Radiofrequency, one frequency | None | Varies by provider | Minimal |
| Ultherapy | Microfocused ultrasound | None | Varies; some discomfort during treatment | Minimal |
| SkinPen microneedling | Mechanical microchannels, no energy | Fine needles, 0.25–2.5 mm depending on area and assessment | Topical numbing | One to three days of redness |
| Surgical lift | Surgery | Incisions | Anesthesia | Weeks |
Versus SkinPen. SkinPen uses fine needles at 0.25–2.5 mm depending on the treatment area and clinical assessment; the manufacturer specifies a maximum of 1.5 mm on the face and 2.5 mm on the neck. SkinPen at Areum Haus targets texture, pores and scarring. XERF targets laxity. Many clients pair the two in a plan.
Versus Jeuveau. A neuromodulator relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines. It does not firm loose skin. The two treat different concerns and are often combined.
Versus a surgical lift. Surgery removes excess skin and produces a larger change. XERF produces a more gradual, natural firming with no incision or recovery. It does not replace a facelift for significant laxity.
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you decide.
No. XERF delivers radiofrequency through a handpiece on the surface of the skin. It is not microneedling and it is not an injectable, so it adds no volume. Firmness comes from your own collagen and elastin over the following months.

XERF is designed to heat the skin’s supporting tissue in a controlled way, and its cooling system manages surface temperature. Your provider selects the depth and intensity for your anatomy and discusses treatment depth and facial fat with you at consultation.
Yes. Many clients start XERF before visible sagging appears to support collagen and skin structure. It can be combined with other treatments in a long-term plan.
